ANNA WHARTON
WRITER
Thank you for landing on my website. Welcome.
This is my personal website and what you will find here is a little about me and my projects to date.
In the About page, you will discover a little more about my career as a writer, the newspapers and magazines that I have written for in my career as a journalist, a little about my work as ghostwriter, and to bring you up to date, some information about my memoir and my fellowship with the Royal Literary Fund.
Under Memoir, you will find details of my book, I Made You Up Inside My Head, which is published by Hutchinson Heinemann, part of Penguin Random House, in February 2027.
Under Books, you will find details of my novel, The Imposter, which was published in 2021 by Pan Macmillan. You will also discover a little more about some of the books that I have ghostwritten and co-authored.
And under Essays, you can read my viral essay What Would A Woman Do To An Unconscious Man If She Thought No-One Would Find Out? To date, this essay has been read by almost half a million people and it has been shared all over the world.
To read more of my essays, you can visit my Substack page, or find it here: annawharton.substack.com
The name of my Substack is White Ink with Anna Wharton. It is named after a quote from the feminist writer, Hélène Cixous, who believes women should write with their own ‘white ink’ — their breast milk, or that of their ancestors.
My Substack offers a community of more than 22,000 followers who are interested in reading topical essays on feminism and writing craft. Paid subscribers receive access to all content, including all my personal essays, creative writing workshops, as well as franchises such as Sunday Shelfie and Feminist Essay Club.
Coming soon is my White Ink Writing School, a home for women who write. I can’t wait to share details of it with you in the coming weeks.
